“Since he was 6 years old it has been known that Dan (Ziggy) would need to receive a liver transplant but hasn’t been “sick enough” to even be considered. Dan is a 20-year-old young man who is well known among most local youth in Duncan. Dan attended Mount Prevost Middle School and graduated from Cowichan Secondary School in 2009. He is a great friend and older brother and has been actively involved in the community. He has been an active member of Boy Scouts and Big Brothers and Sisters, and many other community based groups. He has always been a positive member of our tight little community, volunteering at many events and attending the annual Vancouver Island Folk Festival ever since he can remember.
We hope to raise $1000.00 in bracelet sales for our friend with the help of kind donations and the active support of local businesses. We are also holding a fundraising dance in Victoria on April 21st with all proceeds going to Dan. People have been eager to help in any way they can when they’ve learned that Dan is in the hospital.” - Kate Slade, ‘Ziggy’s’ best friend.
